I was going to type an email to mom and dad, but decided to try the blog instead. Still have yet to break down and get a cell phone or camera, so not going to have any pictures to post. Although, I could probably pull an old one off the computer but that would be silly....
Dexter is gearing up for his farewell speech on Sunday. He hasn't been getting many hours at the theatre lately, but we've been taking advantage of his free movie benefits so I guess that's something. Still have a 6-month supply of popcorn, too. And, he gets to help transport Damien back and forth to wrestling practices.
Daynah drove over yesterday with her friend-that's-a-boy and staying through the weekend. Guessing they will probably get married soon, but nothing for sure yet.
Christi's hand is still trying to heal. She can lift her arm up and down better now, just can't use the hand for lifting and squeezing things. She's in charge of our ward Christmas party tomorrow so in the process of baking ~200 rolls, prepping almost that many baked potatoes, then moving on to a few dozen chicken cordon bleus and a few hundred chicken nuggets. Next week she and Dexter will get to hit the stores for missionary stuff.
We plan on driving down to Utah on Tuesday, the 17th to visit temple square. Dexter reports to the MTC on Wednesday, so we'll drop him off, then head back to Boise....hopefully in time for Damien's wrestling match that night. Tracen, thanks for the offer to let us stay with you guys. The kids want to swim and do the hotel thing, but if we decide not to, we'll let you know.
Mom, we met a woman over here that used to live in Milo. She knew Grandma and Shirleen well and worked with them both in relief society or visiting teaching ...or both. I wish I could remember her name now, but she and her husband own a turf farm just 2 miles from our house. I think she said they were related to the Bird family.....I think there was a Marilee Bird in our ward when we lived there. We stopped by to pick up some bales of straw they had for sale, and ended up talking for quite a while. Anyway, I'll let you know if I ever remember the name.

This is Kristie. Thanks for posting Mike! I'm glad you tried the blog instead, then we all get to hear how you're doing. I'm so excited for Dexter. Wish so bad we could be there for it. I feel so bad about Christi's hand. Is she going to have surgery? Do you get to talk to Drake on Christmas? or Skype? Have a great Christmas. We miss you!
ReplyDeleteHi, Mike,
ReplyDeleteI have never commented on a blog before so this will be a good first. Thanks for posting! It doesn't matter if there are pictures or not. The text you sent updated all of us on what your family is doing and about what is going on in your lives. It's so great to keep in touch. You and Christi sound busy as usual with lots of things going on and life happening in a hurry all around you. I would really like to know the lady's name who knew Grandma and Shirleen. Chances are good I would know her. It's funny how we are about not getting names sometimes. Again--loved your post and look forward to the next one. Surely wish we could be there for Dexter's events! Good luck getting him ready and with your travel. It sounds like a great Utah trip and we'll pray that the weather is good.
