This cute raccoon has been stealing the cats food all winter long. Max (the neighbor who feeds the cats for us) has made it is hobby to try to catch him. He bought this trap and is online all the time trying to figure out the best to catch the raccoon but not catch the cats. He knew there was a raccoon because he kept seeing tracks in the snow. When it first started, this smart little critter would get the lid off the garbage can and dump the can over almost every night. Max tied the can to the bench so it could not be tipped over and put a bungee cord across the top. This raccoon was still getting into it. So now with several bungee cords and tie downs we can keep him out of the can. However this did not keep him out of the cats food bowl. Max knew he was still coming and eating the cats food. Along with the neighbors dog and other neighbor cats. So Max comes over every morning and puts food out and then comes back in the early evening to put the food bowl away if there is any left. We told him he did not have to go every day but he insist on coming and doing it. His wife says that he loves doing it and it gives him something to do.
As soon as the raccoon was caught they were on the phone with us letting us know they had finally caught him. Max took him to the neighbors and put him in his pen out back while they figured out where to take him. When they went back out to get him. He was gone. He had dug a hole under the pen and was gone. So now Max is pretty sure he will come back for the cat food so he is still trying to catch the raccoon again.
Max also caught a skunk in this trap and has caught several of the neighbors cats as well.
I just had to add this picture. This is Amelia reading to Grandma and Grandpa tonight. She is starting to read and is so excited about it. She has 2 little books that she can read all by herself. Thanks for chatting with us tonight. It was great to talk with you.
